I am a designer. I like rearranging spaces to see not only how a layout looks
but how it feels. Floor plan design has been an interest of mine since I was
twelve years old. I spent hours laying out rooms and designing spaces on graph
paper as a child, so it was no surprise that interior design and architecture
would be my career path of choice.

After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in
interior design, I worked for a design firm doing architectural work. In 2008,
the economy forced me to leave the firm, and I joined Husky Truss and Building
Supply. There I learned a great deal about home construction: analyzing house
plans for their structural engineering, material take-offs, and truss design. It
honed my ability both to create an aesthetically pleasing home and to create a
structurally sound home.

Then, in 2009, I started J Taylor Designs and have created relationships with
homeowners and builders in the years since. Designing a home is a personal
experience for me; I want to make sure the homeowners' wants and wishes are
satisfied, their budget is respected, and the building process is smooth,
accurate, and up to code. I am always learning and ready to adapt as my clients'
styles and needs change.

I knew when I was in high school I wanted to be a designer. I loved color and creating beautiful spaces. Little did I know, when I started studying design, I would fall in love with space planning and architecture. Laying out the floor plan for a house became more exciting and intriguing than what furniture would go into the spaces.

After my junior year of college, I came across J Taylor Designs. That summer I started a year long journey learning more and more about construction. This journey simply grew my love for residential design.

After my year long internship and receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from Middle Tennessee State University, I decided to continue working alongside Jamie. My knowledge in space planning and exterior facade design allows me to transform my clients' needs into a home that is livable and beautiful.
